Terms & Conditions

The rules for using this site and the podcast on it. Nothing surprising — listen freely, learn freely, just don't republish the episodes as your own.

Agreement

By using englishlandpodcast.com or listening to EnglishLand with Leslie through the player on this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What the show is for

EnglishLand with Leslie is an educational podcast for English language learners, offered free of charge. It is a listening resource, not a formal course, and it does not lead to a certificate, qualification or accreditation of any kind.

Leslie is a teacher sharing her knowledge in good faith. The content reflects her own experience and opinions about the English language and life in the United States. Language, culture and usage all vary by region and change over time, so treat what you hear as a well-informed guide rather than an authority for exams, immigration matters, employment decisions, or anything with legal or financial consequences.

Using the site and the episodes

You are welcome — encouraged, in fact — to:

  • Listen to any episode, as many times as you like, for free.
  • Use episodes for your own study, and share links to them with friends, study partners or classmates.
  • Play episodes in a classroom or study group, provided the class is not charged specifically for access to this content and the show is credited.

Please do not:

  • Re-upload episodes, in whole or in part, to another platform, feed or channel as though they were yours.
  • Sell the audio, or bundle it into a paid product, course or membership, without written permission.
  • Edit episodes in a way that misrepresents what was said, or remove credits and branding.
  • Use the content to train commercial machine-learning models without written permission.
  • Attempt to disrupt, scrape at scale, or otherwise interfere with the site or its hosting.

If you want to do something not covered here — translate an episode, use a clip in teaching materials, feature the show somewhere — just ask. The answer is very often yes. Email Englishlandpodcast@gmail.com.

Intellectual property

All episodes, audio recordings, written content, artwork and branding on this site are the property of Leslie and are protected by copyright, except where otherwise noted. The EnglishLand name and cover artwork are hers.

Things you send us

When you email an episode idea, a question or feedback, you are giving permission for it to be discussed or answered on the podcast. Personal details are never published without asking first — if your question makes it onto the show, it will be anonymous unless you have told us otherwise, and we will not read out your email address, full name or location.

Please do not send confidential information or anything you are not comfortable having discussed on a public podcast.

Third-party services

Audio is hosted and streamed by Buzzsprout, and the show is distributed through Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for how they operate, what they show alongside the episodes, or whether they are available in your country.

Links from this site to other websites are provided for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content.

Availability

This is a personal project run by one person. The site and the podcast are provided “as is”, without any warranty. We make no promise that the site will always be available, that episodes will be published on a fixed schedule, that the archive will remain online forever, or that everything will be free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Leslie and EnglishLand with Leslie are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or the podcast, including any decision you make on the basis of something you heard in an episode.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here is intended to limit rights that cannot be limited under the law where you live.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the show grows. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the podcast is produced, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
